The Washington, DC metropolitan area is served by three airports - two international and one domestic:
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
About a 30 minute drive to the hotel in Rockville
UberX will cost about $40
A taxi will cost about $60
Direct access to Metrorail on the Blue and Yellow Lines
Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
About a 30 minute drive to the hotel in Rockville
UberX will cost about $40
A taxi will cost about $60
Taking a Metrobus to Rosslyn and then Metrorail to Rockville isn't a completely insane plan. No, wait, it probably is.
Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)
About a 45 minute drive to the hotel in Rockville
UberX will cost about $50
A taxi will cost about $100
No one in their right mind would recommend public transit from here.
UberX is one of the easiest ways to get around DC. (Or a safe ride to and from the wedding!) In fact, UberX is cheaper than taking a traditional taxi and more convenient as well. Download the app on your phone and enter code c961s to get your first ride free up to $15. Or use the button below to sign up for a new account.
We have a love-hate relationship with the Metro. It's usually hate. (You'd understand when your train offloads on a packed platform during rush hour.) But when you step back and take a breath, you realize that sometimes the Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority (WMATA) Metrorail system is really the best way to get in and out of the District. Especially if you don't want to deal with parking or pay for a cab. If you're staying at the hotel in Rockville, then hop on the Red Line to go see the sights.
You'll need to buy a SmarTrip card to get around on Metro. You can buy one at any Metrorail station.
